From 13th February 2023 Homes England’s archaeology contractor will be carrying out trial trenching works along the route of the proposed Homestead Link Road. A series of trenches will excavated to provide an understanding of any archaeological interest which may be present on the site. Arcadis along with Allen Archaeology are the appointed contractors managing these works for Homes England and it is anticipated that the survey work will take approximately 4 weeks (depending on ground and weather conditions).
The archaeological survey work is required as part of the submitted planning application for the Homestead Link Road and the number, location, size and scale of the trial trenches have been determined and agreed with the Archaeology Team at Warwickshire County Council. The results from the investigations will help inform the determination of the planning application.
Please note that if you do see contractors on site over the next few weeks, this will be to undertake necessary survey works. The team will be using excavating machines including diggers to undertake the survey works and to then replace the earth following the investigations. No tress or protected species habitats will be impacted by the survey works.
Please note, construction work for the Homestead Link Road will only be carried out if planning permission is granted by Rugby Borough Council.
